One of her fondest memories from her early days as a simultaneous interpreter was when the Health Minister corrected her for using the wrong medical term. She has since learned her lesson and, not long after, became the interpreter for the meeting between President Joko Widodo and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. She has also provided business analytics services for various companies. Currently, she is one of the official translators for Human Rights Watch.

Chris is a translator, writer, and editor. She started her career in public relations before pursuing journalism at the Jakarta Globe and later at DestinAsian magazine. Publishing online news and features during the rise of social media inspired her fascination with digital platforms as a storytelling medium, and led her to work with tech platforms. Today, she enjoys the challenge of striking a balance between telling good stories and designing new journeys to enhance people’s experiences in discovering and consuming them. Whether editing call-to-action buttons or drafting storylines for video content, she ensures the stories she tells evoke genuine emotions.

She graduated with an English degree, but it was when working as a journalist that she learned what makes people tick and how to genuinely connect with them. Today she applies these principles in qualitative research and design. In her free time she, with three other friends, runs the independent publishing house POST Press. The most fun she’s had in some time is getting up close and personal with Mamah Dedeh, the “badass Muslim preaching mom of Indonesia” for a VICE short documentary.

Her experience in various exhibitions and academic conferences taught her that being an interpreter isn't just about speed and accuracy but also trust and reliability. Since the start of her career, she has produced and translated all kinds of copy: from micro to buttons, caption to responses. Tasked to manage various social media platforms of a news media company, she drives traffic and generates user engagement without resorting to cheap clickbaits. In other words, she understands how internet works. Formalizing her fascination with meme and emoji, she is currently taking a Master's degree in Cultural Studies.

His experience as a multimedia specialist pushed him to learn and do it all: graphic design, digital imaging, video editing, audio composing, as well as UI and UX. He is also a jack of all trades when it comes to translation. He has translated text as diverse as reports, micro-copy, fiction, and news articles. His second novel, 24 Jam Bersama Gaspar, has recently received a literary translation grant from the Indonesian National Book Committee. He also writes features for fun.

Her interest in portrait photography sparked after she was cast in a music video for single by a Seattle-based producer. The moment she saw the behind-the-scene photos, there was no looking back. Whether she uses film or digital, her priority is to capture people in their best light. Expanding her horizons, she is currently in training to become a front-end engineer.
